Hi Marc,

Thanks for posting this great new photograph. Unless I am mistaken, this was taken at Neubiberg, albeit from a different angle than most published so far.

Photo not new. Published in Wings of the Black Cross Number Five with much greater clarity.

728 stencilled on the Me 262 fuselage, I think. Dan O'Connell has 111728 "found unpainted at Neubiberg."

Nick is right, it's 111728 at Neubiberg before a 109 got dumped on top of it.

Thank you all, chaps!

Great to know where those planes were to be found. Dan, am I right assuming the 109 dumped atop W.Nr. 111 728 was WNF Diana built Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. 612 769 "Shargŕ 12" 101. vadaszezred?

Thanks again for all your answers
Marc

FWIW, Japo states Bf 109 G-10/U4, "Yellow 12", W.Nr. 612769 of 101. vadaszezred.

The colour of that particular Hungarian Bf 109G-10 is subject to intense debate. Some suggested to be yellow, others red, or even blue.

Based on the comparison of the known colours visible on the aircraft, I personally believe the number was none of these colours, but rather grey (replacing white).

A colour photo, or period description of the camo colours would settle de debate.

Köszönöm szépen, Dénes,

You made me aware of a vast array of possibles regarding the colors of the numbers...

As said, waiting for a color pic of this machine;-))
