Major Theodore Wagner

Hello,

I am looking for information on the Leutnant Theodore Wagner.
Awarded Silver award in recognition to Leutnant Theodore Wagner, an Observer in an Air-Sea Rescue Squadron.
It is written on this link. We can not read it paper, the date of delivery of this decoration.

I wonder whether this Leutenant is the same man that Major Theodore Wagner, who died on August 4, 1944.
I am looking for any information to identify this Major. It could be an officer of the Luftwaffe death in a car accident. We shirmmütze that was recovered after his death. Killed in Dol of Brittany (Brittany).

Regards,
Dan

Hello Daniel,

I am also researching this man. According to what I know, Dr. Th. Wagner was a successful Bréguet Bizerte pilot with 1. Seenotstaffel in Brest during 1943. At that time, he held the rank of Oblt. and I think that the probability to find the same man as a major the following year is slight, but not zero.

Jérémie

Having searched our officer personnel notes of 24,000 Luftwaffe officers, we find nothing about a person of this name. If he had been a Major then there would be a high probability of finding him in our notes. Perhaps these are two different people. Another twist is that Seenot units were frequently combined naval and air force personnel, so maybe he was a navy guy.

It seems that Oblt Dr Theodor Wagner received the DKiG on 16 April 1944. He is most probably a different person from Major Theodor Wagner killed on 4 August 1944.

Hi Jérémie,

Oblt Theodor Wagner received the DKiG 16Apr44 with Seenotsta. 4, he listed as a beobachter (as Dan states)

Not sure if seenot pilots could be combined F/Bo. Many aufklärungs pilots are listed as Bo but are in fact combined F/Bo

Seems highly likely that your Theodor Wagner in Seenotsta. 1 (as a F) in 1943 is the same individual who received the DKiG with Seenotsta. 4 (as a Bo) in 1944.

Best Regards
