Anyone can give informations about this Tomahawk?
Theatre is North Africa beginning 1942. Stangely DX should be the code of 245 Sq.. Serial number should be AK 406.
Thanks.

Michele

DX is a code used by 4(SAAF) Sqn. Air Britain records that AK406 was lost on 7Jan42.

DX = 4 Sqn SAAF. Air-Britain serial register says lost 7 January 1942.

Hi.
DX was 4 SAAF.Became KJ later.
TA was 2 SAAF.Became DB later.
Air Britain say AK406 went to ME and lost 7.1.42
Was therefore 4 SAAF.
They were based at Msus, and the only Tomahawk that crashlanded amongst Allied troops was Lt Baker from 4 Sqdn.
6 other Tomahawks were lost on this day but they all crashed after
their pilots baled out.
Where did you get this photo??
Would love a good copy.
Regards from a cold S Africa

Hi Michele.
Can you please give us the neg/file no to get hold of a larger scan.
Not often we see the TA codes.
Thanks

Re: Tomahawk recon

Very interesting Michele! I believe I was one of the first to "re-discover" the DX code as being 4 SAAF Sqn. A Norwegian pilot served with this squadron and was shot down in AK555, and the DX codes were entered in his log book. The pilot was Christian Knut Langaard.
