JU88 Lost near Hanover 08 Oct 43

Can anyone identify the JU88 shot down by a 78 Sqn Halifax on the outskirts of Hanover on the night of 8/9 Oct 1943. Time of combat is shown as 0131 hrs in the Sqn report.

Thanks

It could be Leutnant Gross from 6./NJG 2 (Uffz Dreesen and uffz Burow), Ju 88c-6 R4+MP, but it is only a guess

Thank you Frans, I believe that they were shot down by Sgt Coggans of 78 Sqn who was awarded the DFM as a result.

Four bomber command a/c claimed night fighters over Hannover that night

The is only one Ju88 definitely lost there, therefore 25% chance it is the 78 Sqn crew that got it

In the GQM loss return from 12 Oct 1943 the crew of Lt Groß is listed as missing. This entry was corrected on 19 Dec 1943: "Besatzung Lt Groß gefallen. Streiche 3 Vermißte. Setze 3 Tote". So the Bf Uffz Fritz Dreesen was KIA too.
