Johannes Steinhof

What was the position of this famous pilot after the WW2? I have note that he had tested some airplanes in the Netherlands- he was test pilot after the war?

Don't think so. He was an agent then he worked in a bank before joining the Bundesluftwaffe. He may have been trained in the Netherlands at that time??

Something different- in this moment I am engaged in the one study about the Fokker post war trainer S-14. Not very successful, they wanted to deploy it as basic NATO trainer. Officials from many countries had view this plane including of Yugoslav [ Yugoslav pilot flew it at the June 15, 1955] and among the many Johannes Steinhof flew on this plane and in his note was that this plane was easy to fly. So that's my interest is he was test pilot.

Re: Johannes Steinhof

June 55 must be about the time he trained. I believe that at that time he had already joined the new LW. But the Germans needing trainers he may have been sent to test-fly the S-14. I have no evidence to sustain this.

CJE- there is archive document that he flew it. Just I am curious to know about his position in Luftwaffe. Thank you for your time :)

Re: Johannes Steinhof

I did not say he did not fly it.
I found this on Wikipedia :
Er war bereits ab 1954 einer der Hauptverantwortlichen für den Aufbau der Luftwaffe der Bundeswehr

That means that he already was involved in the new LW and it's probably as a member of the Bundesluftwaffe that he flew the S-14.
