JU52 Data Plate oil sight glass

Hi to all

I have a JU52 data plate here which I'm researching .
is the werknummer the number of the aircraft ?
The plate has a werknummer of 5382
The translation is of an oil sight glass with a weight of 180g made on the 5/38
This is an area I haven't touched on so please excuse my lack of expertise.

Many thanks

Hi

While there indeed was a Ju 52/3m with the WNr 5382 I doubt very much that
an oil sight glass
would specifically be adapted for a specific aircraft.
Surely an oil sight glass must have been mass produced and made to fit any aircraft on the market,
or at least many different aircraft types.

And yes an aircraft's WNr is the specific manufacturer's identifier of a single aircraft built.
See also manufacturer's serial number (msn) or construction number (c/n)

Cheers
Stig

Re: JU52 Data Plate oil sight glass

the number is for the component only. it has nothing to do with the aircraft.

Re: JU52 Data Plate oil sight glass

Thanks for the confirmation Harrison

Aircraft parts certainly falls outside my interest, but it is interesting this oil sight glass was specifically
made for the Ju 52 as such.

Really thought the industry had got further than that at the time in question.

Cheers
Stig
