Gr Kdr I/KG 76 Summer 1940
 

Maj Ludwig Schulz was Gr Kdr up to his wounding on 3 Jun 40. Records say that Hptm Lindeiner was Stellv Gr Kdr after that but I can find no record of this name with KG 76-was it Hptm Alois Lindmayr who then became Gr Kdr III/KG 76 on 5 Aug 40 before handing over to Maj Robert Von Sichart is said to have taken command in Dec 40. However, Hptm Dietreich Heistermann von Ziehlberg was killed as Gr Kdr on 7 May 41?

Further to this, Lindmayr took over III Gruppe from Maj Franz Reuss when he was wounded and then he took over I Gruppe from Schulz who was also wounded on 3 Jun 40 and after a series of officers had temporarily filled the post. However, when the new III Gr Kdr Obstlt Adolf Genth was killed in action on 29 Jul 40, Lindmayr returned to command III Gruppe on or around 5 Aug 40. However, the question now arises who took over from Lindmayr? Was it Hptm Franz Von Benda who then handed over to Hptm Dietrich Heistermann von Zielberg as Kdr III Gruppe who was killed 8 May 41 and Hptm Robert Sichart von Sichartshoff as Gr Kdr of I Gruppe who was killed 23 Jun 41?
