If you are a serious academic researcher and historian who focuses on cause and effect and the "Big Picture", then YES by all means. If you limit your interest to aircraft, markings, pilots and who-shot-down-who, then NO.

Jukka,
The original German edition can be found, in hardback, at a cheaper price.

Das Deutsche Reich und der Zweite Weltkrieg. Band 7. Das Deutsche Reich in der Defensive. Strategischer Luftkrieg in Europa, Krieg im Westen und in Ostasien 1943 - 1944/45.
Boog, Horst, Gerhard Krebs und Detlef Vogel

On ABEBooks, for example from about $30 to $50, plus postage, from various German or Dutch book dealers. Depends on whether you would prefer a German or English edition. The German language editions of the various volumes (ten parts in 13 volumes, parts 5, 9 and 10 being in two volumes each) are all hardback, are considerably cheaper than the English language hardbacks, and moderately cheaper than the English softcover editions.

Details of most of the Official Histories of World War 2 (they leave out Finland, Netherlands, India, Italian Army, and Italian Navy) can be found at http://generalstab.org/academy/libra...ond-world-war/ They also leave out the second version of the Soviet Official History, which was done in 12 volumes; basically an editing of each of the six volumes of the first version into two volumes each, as I understand it to remove the Khrushchev flavor and insert a Bulganin flavor. And it should be noted that an English "edition" of the 6 volumes exists on microfilm from Eastview (which of course I cannot locate now).

Enjoy!

Frank.

Frank, my German is far too hopeless to even entertain the idea of buying them in German.
