EERIE?....
 

This morning I decided to have a Nicolas Trudgian print of the Ploesti Raid I had recently purchased framed up.
While the framemaker was measuring it for a price I mentioned this raid took place on the 1st of August 1943, a few weeks after I was born.
I was taken aback when he said "that's today"!!!
I had no idea it had taken place on this very day all those years ago......
Perhaps it would be fitting to finish with the words of Colonel J.R. Kane,

"To you who fly on forever I send that part of me which cannot be separated and is bound to you for all time. I send to you those of our hopes and dreams that never quite came true, the joyous laughter and showery tears of our boyhood, the marvelous mysteries of our adolescence, the glorious strength and tradjic illusions of our young manhood, all these that were and perhaps would have been, I leave in your care, out there in the Blue".........
