Lt. Andreas Trockels, 5./JG 11.

Dear all,

Among the curent eBay sales is this photo (1.), offered together with another (2.) showing undoubtedly Lt. Andreas Trockels exiting his "Schwarze 18" nicknamed "Hjördis" at Jever in July 1943.

Photo 1. does seem taken at a different time and makes me think of another photo taken 11 April 1944 whilst II./JG 11 was stationed at Wunstorf and showing a small group of II./JG 11 pilots, among them Lt. Andreas Trockels, seen here shortly before his death on 29 April 1944:

Can this hypothesis be verified ? Thanks in advance for your inputs

Cheers
Marc

I am sorry, but unfortunately, I cannot help you. By the way, do you happen to know his date of birth?
De Zeng and Stankey do not indicate it:
TROCKELS, Andreas. 27.09.43 Lt., 5./JG 11. 03.44 Lt., appt Staka 6./JG 11 (to 29.04.44 †). 29.04.44 Lt., Stafü 6./JG 11 KIA - Bf 109 G-6/AS (Yellow 18) shot down vic Dörpe. Credited with one victory.

You're welcome the same, Teresa Maria; alas, I have no further information regarding Lt. Trockels...

Hi,
Trockels is mentioned and his photo shown in "I Flew For The Fuhrer" by Heinz Knoke and also details of the combat on 29 Jan 44 are included, although the Allied adversaries are given as Spitfires ( clearly not the case)
