Re: eBay: Allied intrest
OK any Guesses on what I assume is GZ-N
Hurricane Squadron Ace: The Story of Battle of Britain Ace, Air Commodore Peter Brothers 8th June 1940 P3353 Pilot Officer D H Grice 'Turned on Back' Hurricane Squadron Ace: The Story of Battle of Britain Ace, Air Commodore Peter Brothers 20/05/1940 N2583 'N' wouldbe B flight B' Flight's Sergeant North (flying N2583) claimed the Hs 126 probably destroyed at 1825 hours: 'Green One (Squadron Leader Worrall) dived to attack [firing ..." "Loud explosion coming from the direction of the port tank. The aircrfat caught fire (return fire Hs126), my cockpit filled with acrid smoke. I put it down with the wheels in the up position in a ploughed field approx 10 miles SE of Arras, near Pelves" But this has no evidence of smoke or fire damage (though cannot see port wing) but not a ploughed field ?? But this is the best 'match' I can see at moment 02/06/1940: Dunkirk Patrol, F Type: Hurricane Mk. I Serial number: P2727, GZ-? Operation: Dunkirk Patrol, F Lost: 02/06/1940 Sgt D. Flynn - POW Missing from Dunkirk Patrol. Held captive in Kopernikus camp. But https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/228832 says bailed out and anyway GZ-F and "into the sea off Calais; pilot bailed out, and survived, but was captured, and taken as a PoW" Any other possibilities ?? |
