Re: Lt George P Novotny´s claims

Adriano,

On 18 March 1944 he claimed a Bf-109 on an escort mission to Villaorbe, Italy; on 6 April 1944 a Macchi C.202 near Trieste.

Earlier he claimed 2 x Ju-52 and 1 x Hs.126, but couldn't tie a date (yet...). Perhaps a ground strafing.

There seems to be an Osprey publication called "P-47 Aces of the Ninth and Fifteenth Air Force" that must have more info about Novotny.

An other forum member can help you out here?

Regards,

Leendert

Re: Lt George P Novotny´s claims

Greetings Adriano,

George Novotny's victories were as follows:

P-40 20 July 1943 1 MC 202 Decimomann, Sardinia
P-40 30 July 1943 1 Me 109 Southern Sardinia
P-40 28 Aug 1943 1 Me 109 Southern Sardinia
P-47 30 Jan 1944 2 Ju 52s Villaorba, Italy
P-47 30 Jan 1944 1 HS 126 Villaorba, Italy
P-47 18 Mar 1944 1 Me 109 Udine area, Italy
P-47 6 Apr 1944 1 MC 205 Zagreb, Jugoslavia

He is also credited with 2 damaged; however, from a member of this board, I understand one of those should have been a victory as the aircraft crashed.

Cordially, Art Fiedler

Art,
Very kind of yours to supply us with all the victories claimed by Novotny. I am actually flying in a company that has two Novotny´s in Brazil! So I figured out I could help those folks here to know more about this US airman.
Thank you again for helping me and for posting the information
Yours
Adriano

Hello Adriano,

George Novotny is still alive; however, apparently not too communicative. He lives in Michigan near some of his children who are also fine people.

I am george's oldest son my dad is still alive and is 90. He still talks about the war and his victories. We lost my mother, George's wife in Oct of 2009. He does not have computer access anymore and spends his time with family.
