Re: eBay: Allied intrest
I wonder if post 3 could be Blenheim R3897? The circumstances seem to fit the photo:

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Ed, Andy
This Blenheim is definitely L8857 of 114 Squadron, destroyed on the ground at Conde-Vraux airfield during a low-level bombing raid on 11 May 1940. Lots of other photos have emerged over the years of this Blenheim. Regards, Martin Gleeson. |

Does anyone know what the wreckage with RH code is ?

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi Paul,
Hard to believe but that is a Fairey Battle on Mourmelon-le-Grand aerodrome. It is the tail end of L5233 of 88 Squadron. I know nothing about how it came to be so damaged, whether it was destroyed during the air raids on May 10th or damaged during the missions to attack the Meuse bridges on May 14th. It is situated under the wing of a large French bomber, maybe a MB 200. There have been other EBay photos of this Battle over the years. Regards, Martin. |
