Hello,

"Forgotten", by whom? Larry Donnelly DFM, gave an excellent account of Bomber and Coastal Command activities during the BoB period in his, The Other Few: The Contribution made by Bomber and Coastal Aircrews to the Winning of the Battle of Britain (Red Kite, 2004). Some of the contributors to Donnelly's work; Simon Parry, Mark Postlethwaite, John Foreman, Theo Boiten, Stephen Flower, Alistair Goodrum, Chris Goss, Zdenek Hurt, Andy Saunders, Ray Sturtivant, Roy Conyers Nesbit, Andy Thomas, Jiri Rajlich and Ron Mackay, Not exactly "Lightweights"!

Hello,

Perhaps the book published by Red Kite is not widely known outside of specialist circles.

I forgot how many years has past since the first time I saw they declared to publish this book.

Finally.

I would say forgotten by most people, especially the editors.

I would say that for one book related to Bomber and/or Coastal Command during the BoB period, tens or hundreds of books will tell the Fighter Command story.

It is a good title. Without seeing some of the resources we have become familiar with over the years, younger people taking an interest could be forgiven for thinking it was all about the RAF fighters stopping the LW bombers, and very little else.
Fresh eyes on the subject are always welcome, I hope this book casts fresh light on the 'futile gesture' mindset where it occurred.

"Forgotten", "hidden" and "secret" are favourite publisher's words, regardless of how well known the subject matter is. Then if you can add "Hitler's" and "Eagles", you have a book title.

My very same sentiments. You hit the nail on the head. Publishers, take note!

You are right to post this. While historians, experts and specialists want detailed information, the public needs a more 'popular' history to keep memories alive, inform the public and get new blood interested in the time period. I work in the book business (fiction) and one thing we must do on a regular basis is promote new titles and find new web sites to follow the proliferation of 'social media.' We know our fan base is aging and we would like new fans.
