Mosquito crash Lommel(belgium)
 

Is there anyone who can tell me if in or near Lommel(Heuvel) an Mosquito bomber crashed during WW2???? Further a reference to all allied wartime crashes in and around Lommel???

No Alex ,Lommel is about 80 Kms north of Holsbeek. I don't realy know if a Mosquito crashed in the vicinity of Lommel but I received from a family who's Father collect the parts in a hamlet of Lommel(called Heuvel)some parts with a prefix starting with 98 which is Mosquito!! Further i found an oval stamp(inspectionstamp?) with initials OV58 and BTH13522 on parts. Will place some pics later on.

Hello,
Thank you Redcap50 for the link, had not seen it before, it is most helpful.

I had also seen in the Air Safety site that HR236( 24/07/44 ) and MM196 ( 16/11/44 ) are both given with Belgium Flag so perhaps they should be given a closer look also.

Mosquito FB.V1 HR236 on 24th July 1944
F/O P W Rabone & Nav F/O FCH Johns DFC,

He took off to attack a target in north-west Germany on 24th July 1944 but his failed to return. His body was washed ashore at Heligoland Island three months later and buried there. After the war Rabone's remains were re-interred at Hotton British Military Cemetery, Belgium.
The body of his navigator, F/O FCH Johns DFC, was also recovered and lies in Hanover War Cemetery.

here are the parts I acquired from an inhabitant from Lommel. His father found these parts in Lommel(Heuvel) during the war. I have more pics. Do some one recorgnise these parts as coming from a Mosquito??

I am not familiar with Mosquito parts but thought that a mosquito was made from wood. The parts I obtained are aluminum and possibly a wingtip?? Who can recognise these parts??
