eBAy: Captured german planes

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
The 109 is a WNF built Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 511 8.9 "Schwarze 1", unknown training unit, possibly found at Schleissheim, May 1945.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Nice find, Snautzer :)
This seems to be the airfield at Ainring. Another shot of He 111 "??+JW" can be seen on page 61 in the book "Doras of the Galland Circus" by Jerry Crandall. Also of note is the "Mistel" gear on the Do 217. This plane might have belonged to the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (perhaps for experimental flights with the Me 328 or DFS 228?). According to Technical Intelligence Report No. E-34 (also quoted in Crandall's book) one Do 217 was captured at Ainring. I bet it's the one in these Ebay photos.. Cheers, Christian EDIT: I just see that the same TI report mentions a Ju 88, equipped for carrying a V-1. Would love to see a shot of this one too.. |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Thanks for your insight, Christian. For the 109 shots, I would doubt Ainring as there are definitely no Alps to be seen in the background...
Cheers Marc |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hey Marc, just turn around, then you can see them ;)

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Done ! Thanks for the pinpointing, Christian !

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Is it unusual that the 109G-14 has C3 in the primer tank fuel triangle as opposed to B4?

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello Ed,
I got a copy of the report on Ainring,#E-14 dated 28th June 1945 which is also reproduced in Jerry Crandalls „Doras of the Galland Circus“. It has three pages, mainly on the research institute itself, on buildings and experimental items found, among them a complete He 280 without jet-engines undergoing stress-tests. The operational types found were only listed without any notes on subtypes, Werknummern or codes: 3 (?) ME 108 7 ME 109 3JU 87 5 JU 52 3 FW 190 (long nose) 4 HE 111 1 ME 110 1 DO 217 1 JU 88 (with attachment for carrying V-1) 5 Fiesler Storch (sic) 1 TE Transport (Siebel 204). Published photos show that there were at least two Ar 96 trainers and four DFS 230 gliders around. I would like to see a photo of the Ju 88. Jerrys booklet is full of nice photos anyway! HTH Carl |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Carl and Ed,
In addition to the above-noted machines, photos reveal that there were also the following: Heinkel He 46 E “D-IHEA” Klemm KL 31 “KO+AW” Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 "Red 3" (JV 44) Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 "Red 13" (JV 44) Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A Grunau "Baby" Cheers, David |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
D-IHEA was a He 46E W.Nr. 877 first flown at EHF on 13. May 1935.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hey David,
can you tell me where to find a photo of D-IHEA at Ainring revealing the code? This plane is visible in some of the photos I know, but sadly the code is readable in none of them.. Cheers, Christian |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
The Klemm should read KO+AW - as found for this plane in several log books.
KQ+AW was an Ar 76. |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I can confirm the Stkz as KO+AW but I have this as a Kl 31. Is this correct?
Thanks Tom |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Gents,
Many thanks for the additional information / corrections. I have included these in my original post. Christian, the images for the Klemm and Heinkel come from my own collection. Ed, glad you survived your adventures with the "Baby"! Cheers, David |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
KO+AW is a Kl 31

Me 262A-2a WNr 500279, F1+DA from Stab/KG 76. Found damaged April 4th 1945 Giebelstadt a/f. Alternatively as 9K+DA. Otoh, the cloloured rings around the jet intake are a characteristic feature for KG 76 jets.
