Blenheim: Unknown serial
 
Hi

Can everyone help me with a part Blenheim serial number that came down intact on a beach (possibly Holland or France?)

It is a Mk IV with the RAF code MK-U

The serial ?6163

Hope someone can assist me in this

Thanks for quick responce.

Yes I think that it could be 'Z' as the missing part of the serial number.

On the foto the top corner can only be seen (other in shadow) and I suspected a Z but was not 100% sure. Now I am. So thanks for this

You do not know where the crash location was by any chance?

Hi Tom,

According to The Bristol Blenheim-a complete history of Graham Warner this Blenheim was reported missing on shipping sweep to the French coast, but not recorded in the ORB.

Somehow the crew must have been taklen POW and their Liberation Questionnaires might indicate the place where they've been captured. However as the ORB doesn't give an entry the only possibility is to cross check listed crew members in the ORB with the POW lists.

I guess it will be a lenghty hunt in the NA, but eventually it may turn out where this Blenheim came down.
