Red, White, Blue, Light Blue, Green, Black "13"

How come a lot of the top scorers (and unit leaders) flew aircraft marked "13."

Bartels, Bar, Priller, Oesau, Dahl, Reschke, Scheufele, among others.

Coincidence? Or was there something to it?

I agree, lots of top LW pilots did indeed have 13 on their ships. However, there are also quite a number (well over 300) of "just ordinary"pilots with 13. Suppose it is a challenge for the "unlucky" number... like laughing at death.;)
