Information concerning the loss of Uffz. Josef Heiß - killed 11.01.43
 

Hi,

Can anyone provide information on the loss of Uffz. Josef Weiß who was killed on his return journey from an air mission of the 11th January 1943?

He was a very experienced flier with the EK I and Golden Frontflugspange.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Rick

There is a Bs Uffz Josef Heiss in a Ju 88 D1'Trop' 1087 of 2(F)/123 lost this day with Ff Fw Rudolf Grossmeyer , B Fw Horst Helpenstein and Bf Uffz Hardy Freisackern all killed .
GQM dated 18.1.1943 page 3 shows Alexandria- Marsa Matruk crashed . The VDK site has a man of the same name buried Maleme with dob 30.11.1918

Thanks that is him I think as his sterbebild says he was 25 years of age.
