Hi,
According to "The Blitz - Then and Now", page 140:

5/KG77.
Junkers Ju88A-1 (4117). Heavily damaged in repeated fighter attacks during sortie to bomb London. Crashed in the Cnannel SW of St. Leonards, 4.00pm. Possibly that claimed by Flying Officer W. Urbanowicz of No. 303 Squadron. Oberlt. F. Ziel and Fw. F. Niederer managed to vacate the aircraft but drowned. Gefr. J. Feichtmayer rescued by the Hastings lifeboat Cyril and Lilian Bishop after two hours in the water and captured wounded. Uffz. H. Isensee believed killed in the aircraft and missing. Aircraft 3Z+DN lost.
The body of the Observer from this aircraft, Franz Niederer, was washed ashore near Battle on October 21. That of the pilot, Friedrich Ziel, came ashore at Hastings the next day, which is incorrectly recorded as his date of death in Hastings Cemetery where he remains to this day.

Franz Niederer "Washed ashore near Battle" would be unlikely as Battle is 5 miles from the coast. He is now buried at Cannock Chase, 4-16-211.

So my question is: Where was Franz Niederer washed ashore, and where was he originally buried before being reinterred at Cannock Chase?
