Robert "Swat" Milliken 429th FS 474th FG
Robert Carl Milliken took his last flight on December 26, 2016 in Laramie, Wyoming. Bob was one of only two aces from the 474th FG but had the distinction of being the last P-38 ace in the ETO. His nickname was "Swat" which he also painted on his P-38 along with the University of Wyoming bucking bronco logo. Bob was a great guy and will be missed.

Re: Robert "Swat" Milliken 429th FS 474th FG
Hello Gary,
As a nowadays member of Florennes airbase (former A-78), I remember those P-38 and their pilots. By the way, did you look at this thread I posted on TOCH some months ago. It may involved a 429th FG P-38 which, I am afraid, would remain unknown. The fin escaped to France, far away from Florennes area where it was found. http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...light=P-38+fin Best regards ClinA-78 |

Hello,
Yes I did happen to see that particular P-38 fin that went up for auction and researched it as much as possible. I had hopes that this may have been off a 429th FS kite, but all my records indicate otherwise. I show no record of a 474th FG P-38 with a serial number even close to the one on the fin. The other number also remains a complete mystery to me as well. Cheers, Gary |
