S. Korean island still holds Japan’s final fortifications

Interesting story about a Japanese airfield on Jeju Island.

"Agricultural fields in the southwestern coastal area of the island, located in Seogwipo, Jeju province, are dotted with 20 aircraft bunkers that were constructed by the Japanese military to protect its airplanes. Nineteen of those bunkers still maintain their original appearance. Even in Japan, no single region still hosts so many wartime aircraft bunkers. Near the bunkers, there is a 1,400-meter grass runway. While the facility is currently known as Alddreu Airport and managed by the South Korean Air Force, it formerly was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy as an air base. The former air base is surrounded by large dugouts and concrete bunkers that appear to have housed communications facilities."

Hello Bronc
thanks for the link!
Very interesting article. My only complain is that the aerial photo should have been clearer.
