New book 4. Blue Squadron of Spanish Volunteers in LW - La Cuarta Escuadrilla Azul

Hi guys...this is my new book of which I am the Author of the research.

It's a pleasure for me to announce the publication in Spain of a new book that includes the Operations Logbook and Flying Logbook of the 4th Blue Squadron, part of the Spanish Volunteers in the German Luftwaffe. Never published before. A history of this unit was rescued by the specialist and highly Blue Squadron knowledgeable researcher Antonio Duarte Orive, who gives us the chance to have in our hands this inedit and really valuable primal source of documentation, and with not less interesting aportation of the Blue Division specialist Carlos Caballero Jurado, who collaborates in this book making the epilogue talking about the bibliography of the Blue Squadron of books and texts written by Spanish and foreign experts as well as newspaper archive. This work will be a must for any enthusiast of the Luftwaffe and more exactly of the Spanish Blue Squadron and the Spanish air force history. A great chance for people who are interested in the experiences the Spanish pilots went through in Russia during the WW2. The book also includes an appendix with the biographies of every single member of the 4. Blue Squadron, sketches of the airfields, bibliography and a name index. It also contains a very nice set of colour pages with decorations given to the Spanish pilots and also other inedit photos never seen before that are in private collections. Book is published in Spanish and we would be very pleased to ship it worldwide. There's no other book on this since the operations logbook of this Blue Squadron was never studied and published before, so this book puts light to a really inedit subject.

The 1a Escuadrilla Azul, know as 15./JG 27 but attached to II.(Sch)/LG 2, served in October-December 1941. Flying the Bf 109 E they scored 10 victories (+4 aircraft credited as destroyed on the ground) in 240 sorties for the loss of 5 killed/missing and one wounded.
The 2a Escuadrilla Azul, know as 15./JG 51, served in June-November 1942. Flying the Bf 109 F-2 they scored 13 confirmed victories (+1 probable) for the loss of two pilots.
The 3a Escuadrilla Azul, also know as 15./JG 51, served in December 1942-July 1943. Flying the Bf 109 F-2 and Fw 190 A-2/3 they scored 62 confirmed victories (+1 scored by one pilot while attached to a German unit) for the loss of 5 pilots killed/missing, one taken prisonner and one wounded.
The 4a Escuadrilla Azul, also know as 15./JG 51, served in July 1943-January 1944. Flying the Fw 190 A-2/3 they scored 74 confirmed victories for the loss of 7 pilots killed/missing and three wounded.
The 5a Escuadrilla Azul, also know as 15./JG 51, served in January-March 1944. Flying the Fw 190 A-2/3 and Bf 109 G-6 they scored a single victory for one pilot killed.
So that made 161 confirmed victories against 299 for the Croatians.

Del,
I ordered it from the USA. The price was 20 Euros for the book, and 25 Euros postage. Payment by PayPal, to the publisher, which is the first email address in the contact list in the original post. HOWEVER, when I contacted them they wanted to know my address, because they apparently believed that impacted the postage. So I would start by emailing the publisher, and tell them you want the book, and give them your address; it will save you one round of emailing. I paid them this past Monday, and they shipped the book on Tuesday. I don't know how long it will take to arrive.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Hi.....My book contains the logbooks and official flight book of the time, something never published because they were believed lost. After a long time of research, I have located all the information about the Fourth Squad. These new data increase the number of kills of the Fourth Squadron.
Best Regards

Antonio.

Re: New book 4. Blue Squadron of Spanish Volunteers in LW - La Cuarta Escuadrilla Azul

Hi Antonio,

I received your book ("Cuarta Escuadrilla Azul 1943-1944") a couple of days ago, and I can heartily recommend it to anyone interested in Spain's contribution to the Luftwaffe. It's the most comprehensive account available of the 4th Blue Squadron, which was the largest, most active and most successful of the five Spanish squadrons that served on the Eastern Front.

Even though my Spanish is very limited, the book is a valuable resource because it's well organized and contains a wealth of detail.

After an introductory chapter, it provides a day-by-day account of the unit's training and operations (from 15 May 1943 to its withdrawal on 28 Feb 1944) and its subsequent dissolution. That's followed by lists of the unit's victories, the German and Spanish awards received by its pilots, a review of the books and articles that have been published about the Blue Squadrons, a substantial photographic section (many in color), plus a map and list of the airfields from which the unit operated (some with aerial photos.) Also included are biographies of all the pilots, a list of the unit's aces and a complete list of its ground crew.

Best regards,
Leon Venter

Disclaimer: I don't have any association with Antonio -- I just like his work. I ordered my copy from him directly, and paid the standard price (20 Euro + shipping)
