Crashlanded Me109G in Norway, 1944
 

Well...this bird is a mystery for me.

According to local sources this Me109G "10" made an emergency landing at Kragerö in southern Norway around autumn 1944. Judging from the photos it looks like a 10-20% damage landing. Perhaps the machine belonged to IV./JG 5?

I know of the mediocre status of loss reports from this time of the war, but perhaps one of you that are dissecting ULTRA-reports after Luftwaffe losses has stumbled across this incident?

Sorry about the long time frame (ca july - october 1944) and quality of photos.

I have also gone through various KM and Heer KTB's from the same time without finding any traces to the emergency landing.

Do you know the cause behind the losses? The plane most probably belly landed during a ferry flight, none of the eyewitnesses saw or heard any signs of aerial combat that day. According to the same witnesses the Pilot was not hurt in any way after the "landing". So, if these four are related to combat, I guess we are back to the starting point.

I can also add that I have been in contact with E. Mombeek about this incident without getting any further on solving it.

When interviewing Rudi Artner in the mid 90's on his list of losses/crashes for 30.7.44 for the whole of JG.5 are just the names already mentioned and nothing mentioned force landing wise.

Hello Andy,
thanks for the input. After checking the four names in the initial post, it seems that most of them were KIA on 30.07 and it also happened some distance from Kragerö.
