Jasta 11
Could anyone recommend any decent links or books covering the Red Baron's famous flying circus, particularly regards to pilots who flew with the unit.
This is outside my usual area of research, I've been asked by a contact if I could try and help. Was there a pilot by the name of Schoene who flew with Jasta 11? Best Regards Andy Fletcher |
Re: Jasta 11
I think that Greg Van Wyngarden have book about this subject. Also there is magazines WW1 Aero as well Over The Front which could have material like this.
Cheers :) |
Re: Jasta 11
Peter Kilduff's "The Red Baron Combat Wing" would probably help you.

Many thanks for the advice, I'll pass it on.

Re: Jasta 11
Hi Ruy,
Thanks for the list of books, there's enough there to keep him going for a while! Thanks for looking into Schoene for me. Cheers Andy Fletcher |
Re: Jasta 11
I can't add any books, because Ruy kinda covered it, but are you familiar with the Aerodrome website? http://www.theaerodrome.com/
It's not completely Jasta 11, but there's some good material there for research. Also check their reference section for more links - http://www.theaerodrome.com/links/in...=list&cat_id=9 And there's Frontflieger - it's in German, but I seem to remember there being some English parts of it. http://www.frontflieger.de/ HTH, Cori |
Re: Jasta 11
Hi Cori,
Many thanks for the link. The site certainly looks comprehensive. Best Regards Andy Fletcher |
Re: Jasta 11
You're welcome, Andy, always glad to be of assistance.

Re: Jasta 11
Andy could it be "Schoenebeck" ? there were Schoene's with Jastas 23 and 42 but not 11; Ltn. Karl Schoenebeck was with Jasta 11 July 1917--Jan. 1918.
