Re: Shot Down Spitfire Italian Front
Hello
More likely to have been JL12? Possible - 122 - 111 Sqn - 12 Jan 44. 125 - 232 Sqn - 17 July 43. 128 - 93 Sqn - 28 Nov 43. But if ML Then these are possible 120 132 Sqn - 18 June 44 (France). 128 317 Sqn - 16 September 44 ( not Italy). Alex |
Re: Shot Down Spitfire Italian Front
I would agree with it being the JL range, and the last digit would seem to be limited to either 3, 8, or 9.

Re: Shot Down Spitfire Italian Front
Hello,
JL123 AB has 601/80/32 - To Training Delegation 1.11.45 So would have survived WW2. 125 232 Sqn - Engine cut on patrol; Abandoned near Coniso 17-7-43. 128 93 Sqn Hit trees low flying near Morino, 15m SE of Rome. 28-11-43. 129 To USAAF 31-8-43. "Spitfire International" has basically, "12thAF 31.8.43; Fate unknown". So I would favour JL128 as there seem to be a lot of branches in the picture. Pilot I believe to have been- F/O. SWAIN, Stanley Alfred - 136207 - RAFVR. At rest at Casino War Cemetery, Italy. Alex |
Re: Shot Down Spitfire Italian Front
This one is 93 Sqn Spitifire, coded HN, possibly JL128 28.11.43.
