Richard Stramm

I am looking for any information I can find on Ofw Richard Stramm. His data is below:
Name: Richard Stramm

Born: September 9, 1914 in Urdenbach NRW
Went missing: January 1, 1943 in the area of Morosowskaja-Pitomnik/Russia
His ID Number: 67020/16
He was attached to: Einheit Stab III/Kampf-Geschwader 55
Rank: Oberfeldwebel

I have checked various sites on data for him. (Kracker, WW2 awards, aircrew remembered).

I am doing this research for a relative of mine. Richard was her father whom she never met. Thank you very much. hewas crew on HE 111s. I want to build a model of his plane with the proper markings.

Re: Richard Stramm

John is right, but GQM has some erronous info. The following should be correct (based on Namentliche Verlustmeldungen):
1943-01-01, Stab III/KG 55, He 111H-11, 7968, G1+DP, (Pitomnik), Unbekannt. Bruch 100 %.

Bordfunker Ofw Roubal, Franz-Josef, vermißt
Bordmechaniker Ofw Strohschnitter, Arthur, vermißt
Bordschütze Ofw Kunik, Alfred, vermißt

Re: Richard Stramm

Hi aastyer, looking at Richard Stramm's id nbr or EKM No, suggests that he may have served previously with the 5/KG55 circa 1940, if so he must have been considerably experienced until his demise in 1943.
If anybody can clarify the EKM No. for this unit i would be grateful.

Best regs,
Steve.

Re: Richard Stramm

MOB-Nummer 67020 was for 5./KG 55. 67020/1 - 67020/196 were allocated by this Staffel from March 1940 till May 1944. After that 67020/197 - 67020/199 were allocated by 5./KG (J) 55 in Jan 1945.

Thank you very much everyone! This is awesome. I will pass this on to my wife's cousin. I should do some research into 5./KG 55 for his earlier work in 1940. I know it is a stretch, but I hope to locate his Flugbuch. It sounds like I need to build a HE 111 H-11 with markings of G1+DP. I hope to find pictures of him and or his plane. Any recommendation on a paint scheme? Thank you lads! Vielen Dank! Kiitos!

Now I need to research his 5/KG 55 time.

Re: Richard Stramm

III./KG 55
………..
25 Oct 42: transferred to Saki/Crimea to rest and refit and remained there, out of action, until 30 December.

Air Supply of Stalingrad and Operations in Eastern Ukraine. (Jan 43 - Apr 43)
30 Dec 42: again operational, transferred back to Morosovskaya to begin participating in the transport of supplies to Stalingrad and the evacuation of wounded on the return flights.
1 Jan 43: 2 He 111Hs (G1+DP,BR), the first from 8.Staffel and the latter from 9.Staffel, FTR from supply flights to Stalingrad-Pitomnik, 10 MIA.
2 Jan 43: evacuated Morosovskaya as Soviet forces approached and transferred to Novocherkassk/36 km NE of Rostov.
3 Jan 43: unserviceable He 111 blown up at Morosovskaya by the rear guard to prevent it from falling into enemy hands.
5 Jan 43: 7.St. He 111H crashed and burned while landing at Fp.Novocherkassk, 100%, 5 KIA.
…………

The book cited below has several personal recollections of the Gruppe's 30 Dec – 2 Jan stay at Morosovskaya that describe the scene, the cold, the fog, the misery and the rapid approach of the Russians. Unfortunately, there is nothing specific about the flight of Stramm and his He 111 to Pitomnik.

Re: Richard Stramm

Matti, my thanks once again for the MOB-Nummers you provided.

Incidently i found that the Bordmechaniker Ofw Strohschnitter, Arthur, lost with Richard Stramm on 1.1.43 was another ex. 5/KG55 crew member from 1940, his Ekm. No was 67020/47 and not that far out from Stramm's 67020/16 which further confirms Richard Stramm's service with 5/KG55 during 1940!

Best regs,
Steve.
