Wanted: Crashed Enemy A/C Reports Germany & Denmark
 

Dear all,

I'm looking for the so called Crashed Enemy Aircraft Reports (describing captured/damaged LW aircraft found on former LW airfields) for Germany (Region Dedelstorf/Wesendorf) and Denmark. (I'm especially after I./KG66 aircraft.)


I would also be grateful if somebody could help me with the following questions regarding these reports:

1. Do all Crashed Enemy Aircraft Reports Serial Numbers (S/N) 236 through 269 from AIR40-2858 contain a Report, or are some Serial Numbers non-existent (i.e. no report)? (In the former case I'm lacking Reports S/N 237, 238, 242, 245, 246, 247, 252, 253, 254 and 268)
2. Are there similar American reports? (If so, titles, reference numbers, archive locations if possible)
3. Did the British also make Crashed Enemy Aircraft Reports from German airfields captured by the Americans?
4. Did the British and Americans share this info with each other (combined reports?) or was it every nation for itself?

Hi Marcel.

Nothing of this sort exists from Denmark. Only a list with types on the different airfields.

Hi Jörn, so no remarks about markings or W.Nr.? Does the list at least contain subtypes (Ju 88 S-3, Ju 188 E or A, hopefully?)?

Le Culot (East) or Gosselies-Charleroi airfields
 

Just noticed that one of my pictures with a destroyed Ju 88 is captioned as possibly Le Culot (east) or "Goslies (Gosselies)-Charleroi" airfield...

Does anybody perhaps have a Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report on these airfields?

Hello Marcel,

Are you willing to post your picture of Ju 88 on the Belgian airfield for ID?
I am not aware of any CEAR for wrecks on those airfields.

Hi Clint,

Apart from making posting the pictures work, they actually belong to James V. Crow and I don't know if I'm allowed to post them. You can find one of them on page 253 of Barry Rosch's "Luftwaffe Codes, Markings & Units 1939-1945". (The other two photos show the aircraft from the side and from the front.)

The aircraft in question is Ju 88 S-3 "Z6+HL" of 3./KG66. (The aircraft code is visible on the tail in small white letters, just above the swastika. The aircraft letter "H" is painted in white on the leading edge between the engine and the fuselage.) According to Crow the W.Nr. is 330273. (Not visible in the photos, but maybe the GI who took them recorded it?) The aircraft is heavily damaged: The rear of the fuselage was torn of the rest of the aircraft just behind the wings and is lying at an angle to it. Because the rear has gone, the forward part of the fuselage is heavily leaning over backwards, the legs of the Main Landing Gear are twisted and have no wheels anymore. Engines with nacelles are gone, you can only see where they had been attached to the wings. Cockpit looks like it has been blown up, you can only see the bottom of the cockpit floor with the bomb aimer's and pilot's window panels.

So, no problem regarding the ID of the aircraft itself, but what it's doing at Le culot or Charleroi (if correct) is beyond me.... I was hoping that the CEAR could confirm the location...

At Sola airfield (Stavanger):

Ju 88G-6 W.Nr. 620426, 621421, 622307 and 622346.
Ju 188D-2 W.Nr. 150009, 150586 and 151000.
Ju 188S-5 W.Nr. 150576.
At Kjevik airfield (Kristiansand):
Ju 88S-3 330719.
