How many Me262 A-2 ever existed

Hi guys,

I like to know how many Me262 A-2 ever existed.
Is my estimation of 350 correct?

Cheers

Hello hoeberigs,

I did a count and there are 95 A-2s listed in the above data base. I also went through O'Connell, Me 262 The Production Log, (2005) where there are 148. But they are missing others such as 130182 9K+DL which may have been modified in the field. I suspect that factory conversions had the upper gun ports faired over while field modifications (at least by KG 51) were marked by a 'white surround' round the lower gun ports.
Since Dan O'Connell left many entries simply as "A", in the end your estimate may turn out to be close.

best regards,

Jim

Bomb racks were often added or removed depending on who the aircraft was assigned to at the time. I had to note the jet per the original German documentation. Even KG 51 often just noted one of theirs simply as an "A". I don't think your question can ever really be answered.
