Aircraft lost at sea for operational reasons?

Is there a number for how many transport, ferry or patrol aircraft where lost at sea due to non-battle reasons? Also how many of the aircrew survived.

Period ? Atlantic, Pacific or European waters ? What do you mean by 'patrol aircraft' ? What Air Force are we talking about ? All ?

Allied aircraft. Placed here to ask about Atlantic, N/S, as they would have been in use for a longer period than the PTO although I think the latter may have had more incidents per sortie due to the longer distances covered.

patrol as in Anti-submarine aircraft. Thinking of those USAAF and Navy aircraft which flew from Caribbean, Brazilian and North Atlantic bases. Do not know how many aircraft the RAF or Coastal Command had for similar work. Ferry as in those a/c who flew from Western to Eastern hemisphere one way.

Felix, you have asked a very broad-based question. There were hundreds at least, if not thousands, from all the combatants. I doubt anyone will spend the research time to answer you.

I think you need to narrow your question a little.

Rough count 3100 RAF Coastal Command a/c lost while operating from UK on operational squadrons 1939-45. Not all of them came down in the sea, many were on training, but you can see the size of the question you are asking

Yes that many

224 A-20 Bostons were lost en route to the USSR. Departed 3125, arrived 2901. Not all at sea.
