Can anyone confirm this pilot who was on 235 Sqn in 1944 was Canadian and his christian name?

I have a F/O (later F/L) W.H. Meakin serving with 406 Sqn July - November 1944. Logically he should be Canadian, but don't have his service number to confirm that point.

He's mentioned in the Ottawa Journal of July 22, 1944 as being from Kaministiquia, Ontario.

CAN.R106188 Sgt. William Henry Meakin (J17670). 25th March 1943

Phil, this is your man on 406. He claimed a Do 217 on 21.07.44.

Chris, I don't know if this is the same one you're looking for.

Leendert, I am assuming the reference in the Ottawa Journal is to the man on 406. Can you elaborate on the text?

That is he. The Sqn was wrong but the claim was good albeit optimistic!
