Here are a couple of newspaper clippings from Aug 24 and Aug 25 in a couple of Pennsylvania newspapers. Note the accident apparently happened August 23.

Many newspapers ran versions of the AP story on either August 24 or August 25.

Paul,

This aircraft was in fact Curtiss O2C-1, A8756, of the Aircraft Squadrons, 2nd Brigade, Managua. An attempted dive recovery over the field at Corinto on August 23rd was left too late and the aircraft mushed into the ground. The landing gear and engine were torn off. Both S.Sgt. Clark and Pte. Campbell suffered fatal injuries.
