Gunther Landt

I am looking for details of the victories of this pilot. I would especially like to know if any of these were claimed using the Bf109K-4.

Keith,

The following claims are from Prien's History of JG 53. It seems highly likely that the claims in 1945 were made flying the K-4.

05.05.43 (1.) Spitfire (Bf109G)
18.05.43 (2.) P-38 (Bf109G)
21.05.43 (3.) P-38 (Bf109G)
28.12.43 (4.) B-24 (Bf109G-4)
29.01.44 (5.) B-26 (Bf109G-4)
17.03.44 (6.) P-40 (Bf109G-4)
19.03.44 (7.) P-40 (Bf109G-4)
20.03.44 (8.) Boston (Bf109G-4)
Feldwebel
13.05.44 (9.) P-47 (Bf109G-4)
Oberfähnrich
24.05.44 (10.) Spitfire (Bf109G-4)
30.05.44 (11.) Spitfire (Bf109G-4)
Leutnant in 11./JG 53
12.09.44 (12.) P-51 (Bf109G)
26.09.44 (13.) P-38 (Bf109G)
Staffelführer 11.III./JG 53
1.12.44 (14.) P-47 (Bf109G-14)
2.12.44 (15.) P-47 (Bf109G-14)
8.12.44 (16.) P-47 (Bf109G-14)
13.02.45 (17.) P-47 ( Bf109)
19.02.45 (18.) P-47 ( Bf109)
19.02.45 (19.) P-47 ( Bf109)
2.03.45 (20.) P-51 ( Bf109)
17.04.45 (21.) Spitfire ( Bf109)
18.04.45 (22.) P-47 ( Bf109)
24.04.45 (23.) B-26 ( Bf109)

Best Wishes,

Tom

Landt was wounded twice, on 23-Feb-45 and 18-Mar-45, both times flying K-4 machines.

Re: Gunther Landt

Hello,

there was a longer report about Landt and his K-4 in the german "Kit" Modellers Magazine. Wonder if it was late 1980ies or early 90ies.
I Will ask my brother if he still has that number of "Kit".
I believe Land was leading "K-4 Ace" int the West.

Regards

Daniel

Re: Gunther Landt

Good morning Daniel,

the "leading K-4 Ace int the West." ?
Do you mean that there is an Eastern front ace with more Bf109K kills ?

Cheers,

Michael

Re: Gunther Landt

Good evening Michael,

I'm not sure about Eastern Front Air Victories.
Lists may have even bigger "black outs" or missing parts.

Sorry.

Daniel

Re: Gunther Landt

Good morning Daniel,

yes and we often do not know exactly if a unit was flying Bf109G's or K's in 1945.
Have you ever seen a good photo of Günther Landt ?

Michael

Hello Michael

take a look here: https://www.flugzeugforum.de/threads...des-jg53.7313/

Jochen Priens book is in Bavaria with my brother.
Maybe Jochen could tell something.

I remember a Staffelfoto, and a better picture from the same occasion shown here.

Regards

Daniel

Good evening Daniel,

that's an old thread of another forum.
I cannot locate a Günther Landt photo there.
Can you ?

Have a good start into the new week,

Michael
