He111 WkNr. 5523

Hi,

I'm looking for information on a He111 that either returned with damage or crashed on return due to fighter damage.

Thank you in advance.

Regards, Thomas

Re: He111 WkNr. 5523

Does the WkNr. give information on when it was produced and to which unit it was initially delivered?

My guess is 1940 France. Either flying against missions in France or against England.

Re: He111 WkNr. 5523

No info in my list on 5523. Likely was He 111 H-1/H-2 made in April - May 1939.
Pre-war placement of Swasticka was on fin and rudder, after war started Swasticka was placed on fin (but older planes retained older position).

Re: He111 WkNr. 5523

There is an earlier entry:
Gen.Qu. loss report from 2 September 1940 lfd. Nr.17
30.8. I./KG 53 Feindflug Ort: Radlett, Ursache: Unbekannt. He 111 H-2 5532 A1+JL (L = 3. Staffel) 100%
Lt Rösler vermisst
Uffz Gall vermisst
Fw von Kühnheim vermisst
Uffz Sahm vermisst
Obgefr Fischer vermisst.

Correction from 28 September 1940: Fw von Kühnheim gefallen
Correction from 6 November 1940: Uffz Sahm gefallen
Correction from 13 December 1940: Ogefr Fischer in englischer Gefangenschaft gestorben.

Re: He111 WkNr. 5523

Rottler, thanks.

My point was pointing at this was NOT P-2 version as Snautzer belived.
Crew in my post is same as these on eBay, caveat is that many duplicate

Adding:
Numbers are as found in GQM losses. 5532 is as as you say, both H-2,
eBay graves airplane can then be either 5513 or as I read number 5573.

Query was about 5523 (still unsolved)

Re: He111 WkNr. 5523

The RLM had allocated Werknummern from 5000 on to the HWO (Heinkel-Flugzeugwerke Oranienburg) and ATG (Allgemeine Transportanlagen-Gesellschaft Leipzig):

HWO 5001-5094 He 111 J
HWO 5095 – 5149 He 111 H-1
HWO 5150 – 5199 He 111 J
ATG 5201 – 5240 He 111 E
ATG 5241 – 5260 He 111 H-1
ATG 5261 – 5399 He 111 H-2
HWO 5401 – 5440 He 111 H-1
HWO 5441 – 5600 He 111 H-2
ATG 5601 He 111 H-2
ATG 5602 – 5727 He 111 H-3

Re: He111 WkNr. 5523

Hello, on the tomb cross the WNr. looks more like 5523 for me, not 5513 or 5573 (when I compare it with '111' above), so I think WNr. 5532 in GQM is a typo. It's just my opinion.
