Ian Torn - Royal Flying Corps
Hi all.
Bit of a longshot.... Ian Torn (born Aberdeen 1919) , was born to British Parents William and Daisy Torn, who immigrated to Boston in the USA. In 1937, Ian (age 17) and his younger brother and sister sailed from Boston arriving in Glasgow in January 1937. The Boston Globe quotes "Ian will go into training in the Royal Flying Corps" In 1937, this would have been the RAF? I can't find any references to a Ian Torn flying anywhere in the war. Any ideas? |
Re: Ian Torn
Hi,
I can't really add much, but given the quote about RFC training and the date of 1937,which doesn't really speak for the accuracy of the item in the Boston Globe, if he'd retained his british citizenship what is to say that he didn't join as ground crew? Not sure if this helps at all, but may be worth considering. Regards, Clint |
