JG 2 Losses, 12 June 1944

Recently viewed some gun camera footage of then Capt R Hendricks, 397 FS, 368 FG downing four FW190s “five miles north of Lisieux” at 1045 on 12 June 1944. The only LW losses that seem to coincide with this action are from I/JG2 and III/JG2. While III/JG2 reporting engaging P47s, I/JG2 reported it encountered Typhoons.

Did any RAF Typhoon units report contact with FW190s around this time/location?

Good afternoon k b !

according the 2nd TAF Log of Casualties, Claims, Assessment and Losses for this particular day, a number of THYPHOON were lost. But no one really does coincide with the incident of your description.
At 12:40 hrs, No. 315 Squadron reports an engagement "8 m SE of Sees", with about 4 FW 190, claiming those shot down.
In the German Victory List for the day, 1./JG 2 reports two TYPHOON shot down at about 10:46 hrs near St. Pierre-sur-Dives.

All the best,

Horst, 315 Sqn bounced JG11 aircraft. I would have a closer look but I believe most if not all Typhoon losses were due to Flak. There were several claims for Fw 190s by USAAF, however.

It would appear I/JG2 actually encountered the P47s of 368FG, not Typhoons. Does anyone have information of 368FG P47s losses around 1045 north of Lisieux?
