Ju 88 A-4 loss in MTO 9 January 1943

On 9 January 1943 Junkers Ju 88 A-4 WNr 2338 F1+GS of III./KG 76 was shot down by a Hurricane of 253 Sqn. Hptm. Heinrich Schweickhardt and his crew went missing.

Does anybody know who shot down this Ju 88 and perhaps the markings of his Hurricane?

Do any photos exist of either aircraft?

Hi Skyraider

The draft of my 253 Squadron history shows:

Flg Off Danny Blair (HV982) and Flt Sgt Ed Dawson RCAF (HW401) attacked the Ju88 during an afternoon patrol 70 miles north of Zante, F1+GS flown by Hptm Heinrich Schreikharrdt (holder of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves), an aircraft of III/KG76, which subsequently ditched with the loss of all the crew.

Cheers
Brian
