Please note the large background tent on the left. It appears to have clear panel segments by the top.

That's a very strange and uncommon tent, Ed..............I've never seen one like that in Wehrmacht use before. Each Gruppe must have had at least 100 tents, so as the issue ones wore out and became hard to get through normal supply channels, they must have resorted to civilian camping tents and the like to fill their needs. The pyramid-like one with the clear panels looks similar to some seen on summer beaches in Europe back in the 1930s.

You are right, Ed.
These tents are being used by the Luftwaffe for engine maintenance in the field.

I want to understand the aim of this - long - thread:
To help to recognize Airfield?
In this case I don't see nothing in this picture linked to any installation.

If not, it's okay but maybe "eBay photos with supposedly identified field" should be the right title, shouldn't be?
:)

Regards,
Franck.

Sorry Franck.

I think Snautzer started this thread with this title as a sop (favor) to me. I have a large thread on the Michael Holm site www.ww2.dk that is devoted to airfields used by the Luftwaffe 1935-45. I was looking for photographic details of the airfields in Russia and the Baltic States because the wartime aerial photos taken by Luftwaffe reconnaissance aircraft of these airfields from 7,500 to 8,000 meters altitude mostly lack definition and detail. I told Snautzer that I was interested in photos of the landing areas, hangars, workshops, ops and admin buildings, barracks, dispersals, etc.

So I take full responsibility and once again thank Snautzer for creating this thread.

Sometimes it is what it is. And you are wright, nothing to see under the wing, wich says in its own way enough. Said airfield was probably nothing more then a somewhat straight piece of grass with what tents. Or it will be like that untill i find another. Pictures of strips in the east are not as abundent as Bf109, or the captured wrecks and dumps in Germany. I hope that it will be usefull a database, as are pictures that are used to identify the wrecks in germany in some cases.
