143 Sqn Beaufighters JL879 and NE771

Can anyone break this link

143 Sqn ORB says 1Lt Niven and F/O Davy killed in bombing training crash off North Coates on 20-04-44 but does not give serial no. Only one a/c lost

Air Britain books on Royal Air Force serials lists two aircraft lost in these circumstances JL879 (21st Apr) and NE771 (20th Apr)

Anyone help?

Accident card says JL879, 21 Apr 44. In sea half a mile off North Coates, Wing hot water during low bombing exercise
