Goodevening ,

On january 10 1945 two B-17's 43-37947 and 43-37961 Failed to return , and landed at Liége.Who has some information about these two aircraft ?

There is a MACR 11564 for 43-37961. It did not land at Liege.

Abbreviations in the MACR: LWA (Lightly wounded in action), LIA (Lightly Injured in Action) , RTD (Returned to Duty).

KIA (Killed in Action) and MIA (Missing in action). Melvin Bridges (MIA) was killed and he is now buried at Margraten.

There is a photo of 43-37947 taken January 6 1945 on fold3.

The pilot was Robert Charles Gatzke, (305th BG) who was from Michigan. Don't know if he flew the plane on 10 January 1945, but that might be a possibility.
