DIERKES, Alois - information Jägerblatt

Gentlemen,

I am looking for information on Jagdflieger Alois Dierkes.

On the Internet I have drawn a blank. The only Information I found is that he is in the below editions of the Jägerblatt. Does anybody have Access to these?

Kind regards
Wouter

DIERKES, Alois - information Jägerblatt

Hello Wouter

According to http://www.jagdflieger.info/ his nickname was Loisl and he was born on 1 October 1917 and served with I./LG 1, V./(Z)LG 1 and I./NJG 3. This information apparently was sourced from Jägerblatt 1974 Nr. 5 and Jägerblatt 1993 Nr. 1. Hopefully this might be of some use to you.

Horrido!

Leo

Hi Wouter,

Uffz Alois Dierkes was not a pilot, he was Bordfunker in the V.(Z)/LG1, the Zerstörer Gruppe of LG1. He flew in Poland and France, where he was wounded on 12 May 1940. Upon recovery, he returned to his unit, which became I./NJG3 in Oct 1940. Later in the war Direkes served as an instructor, training Hungarian night fighter crews.

Dierkes' experiences in the 1st year of war are described in the book 'Zerstörer Gruppe: A History of V.(Z)/LG1 ~ I./NJG3' by the late Ludwig von Eimannsberger.

Uh... I did a quick search on my Jägerblätter - he mostly shows up in the "Birthday wishes". His obituary is in Jägerblatt 2/1997 (which you can have a copy of if you want it).
