Tiger Moth Denmark-England

Hi guys
Could someone provide details of the epic flight by a Tiger Moth from occupied Denmark to RAF Acklington. I haven't got the date.

Cheers
Brian

Brian,

This thread on a sister website says 22 June 1941, OY-DOK, Hornet Moth:

Nothing much more to add. Thomas Sneum has not yet received the attention that he deserves by me, but the story of Petersen is described here
http://www.danishww2pilots.dk/profil...?alpha=p&id=69

The most epic escape from Denmark, but not the only escape by aircraft.

Thanks Mikkel - most interesting.

I have just ordered a copy of the book dealing with Sneum's wartime career.

Brian,

Just for fun: small picture of OY-DOK on http://www.ryeflyveplads.dk/

It appears that it flew with 24 Sqn as HM498 later on.

Leendert

Brian,
I have som time off work next week. I think on the basis of this thread, that I'll try to make up for the fact that I had not developed the Sneum story.

Hi Mikkel

If you take time off from work, don't forget the wife will want to be taken shopping and she will find some jobs around the house for you to do!!

Profile on Thomas Sneum is updated:
http://www.danishww2pilots.dk/profiles.php?id=87

Would be interested in any information on Sneum flying Mossies and the squadron no of the 2 Spits and 2 Hurricanes that met OY-DOK in Endland. My information indicate a RCAF Spitfire squadron.

Regards
Mikkel
