Re: Post # 882 - No.4:
Aircraft is 450 Squadron RAAF Kittyhawk III, FR249/OK-F which forced landed in sand dunes and onto beach north of El Daba after combat with Bf 109s on 22 October 1942. Pilot Sgt Gordon Lindsay RAAF was captured, POW. Col Bruggy's previous message mentions Sgt Holloway's aircraft FR239 but this was coded OK-S. How can I get a copy of this photo. Ebay is obviously in German. Can you contact seller privately. Doug |

The aircraft and those that followed was for the Norwegian Training Facility 'Little Norway' outside Toronto and not the Canadian Air Force. The date on the flip side is interesting, making me think this is a test flight and not the actual delivery flight. Acording to Norwegian sources the first three 8A-5 were delivered on 2 Nov 1940. But I suppose it is possible the actual delivery flight may have been "slow and easy"... Anyway Björn can give everyone chapter and verse with regard to this aircraft which I believe is the first one, D-1 c/n 715 Cheers Stig |
