ZG76 in SdKdo Junck

Is there a list of the ZG76 pilots who went to Iraq as part of this force?
Thanks
Peter

Dear Peter

My late friend Martin Drewes was one of the members of Sonderkommand Junck and also a former pilot of ZG 76 (and later Gruppenkommandeur of III NGJ 1).

He wrote a nice biography (soft style) that you can find here:
Sand und Feuer: Jagdflieger im Irak und über Deutschland

Martin Drewes

ISBN 10: 3981161564 / ISBN 13: 9783981161564

There is information about his combats there and pictures, etc...Nice reading.

Could Merget be Herget?

Re: ZG76 in SdKdo Junck

Thanks guys. I was aware of Drewes and Herget (Chris - I agree is probably 'Merget'), but the other names are gratefully received.
Andy - thanks for the effort. Trawling through those summaries was next on my agenda if I didn't get a list here. Sorry you had to go to that much trouble to help.
Adriano, thanks for the thought, but it seems German only .......... I envy you for having known Drewes, and probably others like him. I would have loved to have met them.

Peter,

Also have a list of personnel on my Junck page if that helps. Unfortunately, when writing I did not list their unit affiliations....

Re: ZG76 in SdKdo Junck

Andy, you could add Lt Paul Zorner to that list (per deZeng and Stankey). Prob Ju52 with 4./KGr.z.b.V 104, later a top night-fighter ace with 58 kills.

Re: ZG76 in SdKdo Junck

Hello Byron.
I didn't bother with the a/c codes because I'm pretty sure they were all painted over either before or when they got to Iraq. In all the photos I've seen of any of the a/c, they have generic markings. The WNr may still have been present, but are rarely visible in the photos. Bf110E WNr 4035 is the only one I have found, but I haven't really been looking for them.
