First class fotos- I didn't know about that airfield in Indiana where the recovered German aircraft were sent for analysis and flight. Wonder if the CAP in back then had some "spotters" calling in reports of German fighters over the cornfields of the Hoosier State.

Those Fw 190s aren't in America however, they're aircraft of 2./NAG 13 at Cuers-Pierrefeu in Southern France.

I absolutely hate these kind of forgeries. A photograph is a document and colorizing it after the fact should be allways treated as a forgery.

too right ..talk about falsifying history. Getting to the point where its impossible to tell what's real and what isn't

The TBM was 22904 of VT82 and the damage was caused when she was struck by 22889 of the same squadron which spun-in after being hit by AA at Chichi Jima.

All three crew of 22889 were killed, but Ens. R.T. King in '904 managed to regain control and fly back to the Task Group where he made a successful ditching. Unfortunately, before realising that the aircraft could be brought under control he had ordered his two crewmen to bail out off Chichi. They were captured and executed.
