William and Wagner of 605 Squadron

For reasons that have no more reason than seeing a great model of a 605 Squadron Mosquito VI in 1/48 scale I looked at 605 Squadron aces. From several I chose Alan Wagner and Leo Williams.

In the first of several entries can anyone tell me more of a Rhodesian, Ernest Leopold "Leo" Williams?

I am especially interested in his period before that covered by the Aces High (Vols.1 and 2). I have all the excellent volumes by Chris Shores et al as a History of the Mediterranean War. and so have those details. I also have the Foreman, Fighter Command titles (all of them) and the Osprey Mosquito titles therefore.

When was he born, his family and education? Williams must have trained in Rhodesia, but where? And when did he join 54 OTU?

regards

Keith
