Hi Stefan

He is Ofw Alexander Uhlig. Fallschirmjager won RK 29.10.44 with 16./Fsch.Jag.Rgt.6 for action at Carentan. He was captured in July '44 and held in the US and England. He was actually the only German to escape from the UK - Camp 23 Subury, albeit after the end of hostilities.

Just curious: how did he come to be photographed in full uniform with the RK which he was only awarded three months after being captured? Did medals get sent through to prisoners?

I do not know if it is the case here, but sometimes a KC was "incorporated" on recievers, also after their death or capture. I have seen it in some of my "ADLER" magazines.
Best wishes

Nick: Look at the clarity of the RK compared to the lack of clarity of his photo

Good point!

So we now have proof of a secret Nazi project that developed Photoshop 50 years before the Allies.
