Luftwaffe Units 05/03/44
 

On 5th March 1944 Luftwaffe units intercepted an 8th Air Force attack against targets at Cognac and Bordeaux, France.

Elements from the 2nd Bomb division attacked airfields and other targets, which were intercepted by fighters from 7./JG 2. Three B-24s were claimed as destroyed.

Can anyone tell me which other Luftwaffe units were involved in this encounter, how many aircraft were scrambled etc.

I would also like confirmation what type of aircraft 7./JG 2 were operating with at this time, as well what the other units involved were flying.

7./JG 2 was flying the Bf 109G-6 at this time based on losses during the period.
