Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Many thanks Carl, for your kind help. Beyond the reasons for putting those brand new planes in storage, I still wonder where the pics were taken. Could it be Erfurt Nord ?
Thanks again Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Marc-André
IMHO it would be somewhat strange to ferry an aircraft intended for storage to an operational Luftwaffe airfield with no connection to Erla. Especially if the plane wasn't accepted by BAL or if I had no fuel at all. I think, we should have a closer look on the airfields, which Erla used for final-manufacure or for acceptance flights in 1945. Again: Rasmussen may help us. Cheers Carl |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
You're absolutely correct, Carl. So let's wait for Rasmussen ;)
Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
An possibility could be Delitzsch. I know some a/c from the 152xxx-batch were ferried from there and they had 2 "Bogenbinderhallen" (maybe this the hangars on the picture but I don't know building plans from there).

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Many thanks, Jörg. Until proven otherwise, I'll go with this tentative location.
Cheers Marc |

A great new Bf 109 G-6 shot, totally unknown...
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/cl...26497-582.html post #17448 IMHO, a WNF built Bf 109 G-6 in the W.Nr. 510xxx 511xxx batch. Tactical marking is "Weisse 5?". Any ideas about unit and location, bar the - obvious - fact this airfield was overrun in Germany, Spring 1945 ? Thanks in advance Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Isn't it funny to see the guys at the Wrangler forum drooling allover the jeep and its exhaust stack and completely ignoring the Messerschmitt :-)
What gold is to some is worthless to others depending your filter and focus Good catch Marc! |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
What is a "Wrangler"? I just see that a stupid guy was parking a damn car in front of that nice Messerschmitt before taking the picture. ;-)

Most correct, Chris !

"Gelbe 11", 3./JG 52, just behind and ajar, we have Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. 612 762 "Weisse 24", Jasta 5 der ROA. There are another 13 photos from this same constellation. Check them out here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...57631641455669 Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
An exceptional find in the Fridhetsmuseum collections, part of the Nationalmuseet Denmark: Ju 88 G-1 and Bf 109 G-14 , Denmark, May 1945. Source: Nationalmuseet Denmark, inv. FHM-15367 https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/photostream IMHO, this shot was made in Kastrup. Any confirmation or contradiction ? Thanks in advance Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hallo Marc,
for your III./JG 4 query: Bf 109 K-4 W.Nr. 334 ..., III./JG 4, Jüterbog-Damm (?), March 1945. Great news Sinisa! Many thanks.

Marc,
The Ju88G-1 is WNr.712344, "D9+we.PH" of 1./NJG 7 found at Kopenhagen-Kastrup in May 1945. Cheers, and Merry Christmas to all. David |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
And here we go with an absolute rarity: A photo of the Erla Heiderblick factory with Bf 109 K-4 fuselages, seen in May 1945.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hello Marc-André,
Happy new year. Please tell me: your flickr's pages were lost ? The flickr site web said: " pages introuvables ". Best regards, Lumabe. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hello Marc-André,
You come back ! I like you're Messerschmit's collection of pictures. You have the best web site about this powerfull plane. Thank you very much. Lumabe. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
I was kindly provided today by Martin Reiher, son of Uffz. Gerhard Reiher, from 8./JG 3, with a picture of an Erla built Bf 109 G-10, flown by his father in late 1944 - early 1945. https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/dateposted/ The machine is said to be "Blaue 2" and the W.Nr. is partially legible. After scrutinizing it to the best of my ability, I read xx1617 which would point to W.Nr. 491617. Any known losses for this W.Nr. batch ? Any details on this particular machine ? Thanks in advance Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hello Marc-André,
a beautiful picture indeed, a perfect late 1944 G-10 from Erla. Werknummer 491617 does not fit, as this Werknummernblock ends at 491530. There was a 490617 with BAL 5th November 1944 and a 151617 with BAL 5th February 1945 and damaged 19th Febuary 1945 with KG (J) 6. Greeting Carl |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Ah, great information again, Carl!
After checking again the picture, there is more then a fair chance that the actual W.Nr. is 490 617 indeed. Given the angle of the plane regarding the photographer, the 9 and the 0 do look merged together... Thanks again for your highly valued help ! Cheers Marc |

Nick,
Don't you worry ! One can see the top of the head - with Mütze - of Reiher's Erster Wart, who scrutinizes his engine gauges... Cheers Marc |

#817: the correct spelling was "Heiterblick" (was the Werk I). |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Thanks Marc,
This is the proof one has to be patient to be reputed as a great site manager ! ;)... Takes only 6 years :) Congratulations bro' Cheers, Franck. PS: did you get a copyright to publish it like that ??? Hum? Ah ah ah ... |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
You're welcome, Franck. As for the copyright, no worries: this batch of images was posted on my flickr pages at the direct request of Martin Reiher, son of Gerhard Reiher, the former 8./JG 3 Flugzeugführer.
Cheers Marc |
Me 109 G14 Kroat
Bonjour,
You have recently added to the galery a photo of a Kroat Me 109. The new photo shows the G14 "black 10" (not the G14 AS plane "black 4"). Best regards. RB |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hello Rémi !
You're thinking of this picture ? https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/dateposted/ If confirmed, thanks for the correction. Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
Thanks to Tomas Prusa, over on FB and stemming from modleforum.cz, we have this picture of another Erla built G-6 with two interesting features: https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/dateposted/ 1. We have the Erla factory W.Nr. painted under the handgrip next to the rear cockpit: I read 44'234. Any concordance with an RLM W.Nr. ? 2. The three digits yellow tactical marking are known both for JG 102, JG 104 and JG 106. Any clues as to which unit used the 3xx numbering system ? Thanks in advance Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Why 44234? For sure I can read 442xx only not more ...
The 44234 belonged to an G-14 and was destroyed in November 1944 for 100%. So it couldn't found by American troops in May 1945. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Thanks Jörg,
Any other candidates in that W.Nr. range ? Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
I like your fantasy to read WNr.'s, Marc. :-)

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Marc
When I click on link I get Bf 109 G-14/AS W.Nr. 782 104 ...not Erla G-6. Hope my computer is not kaput. D.B. |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Ah D.B. this is all about mixing up two themes. Falcon gave us the original link to the pic discussed as an Erla G-6.
Thanks to Tomas Prusa, here is the page from where this photo emanated; obviously one from the NARA collection. http://axis-and-allies-paintworks.co...wtopic.php?388 Cheers Marc |

Thank you, Falcon & Marc.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
We have a string of new Bf 109 G-6 pics here: Beyond saying the basics (Bf 109 G-6/R6 with a tall antenna mast) which allows to date those pics from the Summer of 1943, no clear evidence for the unit. https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/photostream https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...n/photostream/ This one comes a bit better off: probably "Schwarze 5" from 5./JG ? Any ideas about location and unit ? https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...n/photostream/ The last one is more of a Sütterlin reading issue: a Mtt-Regensburg built Bf 109 G-6 which tactical number "Grüne 674" does ring a bell for 6./JG 104. If not totally mistaken, this pic might have been taken at Roth in July 1944 (According to caption). https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...n/photostream/ Any precision would be greatly appreciated ;) Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
We have for a change two new pictures of a WNF built Bf 109 G-14 which W.Nr. 510xxx is probably legible on the original on sale here: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Jagdflugzeug-...MAAOSwfVpYnEM5 http://www.ebay.de/itm/Jagdflugzeug-...kAAOSwOgdYnEM8 The scene speaks for one of the pine forests near Berlin and clothing of the Staffel members does set the period in September - October 1944. Any ideas about location and unit ? Cheers Marc |
