Rare Me 262 pics
While doing a google search for a certain Me 262, I came upon a thread containing some of the most interesting Me 262 pics I've ever seen. This thread has 30 pages. I recommend checking out each and every page, as they are filled with treasure.
If anyone woukd like to discuss any of the Me 262s featured in these pics, let's do it. Regards, Jon https://www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic....0971&start=435 |

Thanks for the link. Some images are duplicated on the 30 pages, but many images I have never seen.

Re: Rare Me 262 pics
Hi Dan,
If you click on the other page numbers on this site you will find almost every new photo of Me 262s posted on eBay and elsewhere since 2013. Thank you, Jon. Concerning the Me 262 with the white outline "3" seen on pages 27-28: The large "3" is located in the same position used by red "10" and red "12" Me 262 B-1/U1s of 10./NJG 11 and the A-1/U3s of III./EJG 2. However the bottom shape of the "3" is dissimilar to those rounded "3"s of the A-1/U3s, but similarly squared as the "10" and "12" of 10./NJG 11. Moreover, I cannot find a Hamburg-Leck autobahn in any atlas. There is a Hamburg-Lubeck autobahn from which 10./NJG 11 operated in 1945. best regards, Jim Geens |

Re: Rare Me 262 pics
You're welcome Jim! I'm glad that you found the link helpful. That Me 262 with the number "3" is fascinating, isn't it? Those are some interesting observations you've made. Its unit affiliation seems mysterious.
I had previously seen only one of the pics of this machine in Brett Green's excellent "Gotterdammerung" book. There he suggests that the leading edge slats are "possibly unpainted." While glare is a possibility, they certainly do appear very light in value. My guess is that they have been primed. Since unpainted Me 262s typically had all the slats, ailerons, and flaps primed in a very light color(RLM 02, 76, etc.),the wings might very well be unpainted, largely left in natural metal. Also, just a tantalizing glimpse of the hakenkreuz is visible in 2 of the photos. While the swastika has been censored, some of it can still be seen. It looks like it might be the very rare white outline version. These are just some additional thoughts. :) Best regards, Jon |
